CO.COS COOKING CLASSES

Class Snapshot

Playa del Carmen is known for it’s sandy white beaches, bustling Quinta Avenida (5th Ave – a pedestrian thoroughfare of shops, restaurants and more!) and its array of tourist activities. This Caribbean beach “town” has an ultra-chic & hip feel. In addition to the fun in the sun, tucked away in the heart of Playa, is a great modern cooking school, Cocina Cosmopolita (a.k.a. Co.Cos).

Coty, owner and an experienced chef, has been cooking since childhood. During her early years Coty loved baking cakes and other confectionary delights. She devoted herself to cooking for others with love. She took several cooking classes, “just for fun”, both in Mexico and France where she eventually found herself cooking in an Italian Restaurant in Monterrey, Mexico. Soon after, Coty joined the professional corporate world working in Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, but knew that this was not what she was cut out to do. She found herself missing the culinary world and wanting to feed people.

Cooking was a way of life…

Returning to Mexico, she started putting a spin on modern Mexican cuisine but soon found herself in Germany for 8 years teaching Spanish & traveling. During this time, she spent her non-teaching hours studying a variety of cooking techniques – perfecting the art. These hours of culinary self-study finally gave her the push to take professional classes in Thailand (the cuisine that rocked her world during her travels). At this time, she knew what she wanted to do, teach others how to cook.

Co.Cos was established in 2009 in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, but was soon moved to the sunny beach town of Playa del Carmen. We invite you to join Coty for the day, a gal with a dream and passion for food. Come and explore the many wonders of Mexican cuisine in her kitchen. Co.Cos offers a variety of cooking classes for all ages and experience. Great for couples, friends, family visitors, solo travelers and small parties.

Panza llena, corazón contento!

SPECIAL NOTES

As we mentioned the menu(s) are pre-selected by the chef and based on what is seasonal and fresh. For this reason, please let us know ahead of time if you have any specific dietary requests and we will do our best to accommodate them. We do need this information prior to your arrival to class. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Also, if you are a repeat guest we are delighted to host you again! Let us know if you have already visited the school and which recipes you have prepared. By all means we are happy to make something different.

Please note that we also have a 2 person minimum policy to start a class (although do inquire for private lessons & details). If we do not have enough students to book a class we are happy to put you on a waiting list. Additionally, we do like to keep cooking classes small so our maximum number of participants is 12 students – this still gives you a hands-on cooking experience. The cooking school is equipped with enough equipment for every one to have a hands-on experience. Including prep stations and cooking stations.

“Great for all ages! – …My husband booked this cooking class as a present for me, my sons, and their friends. Although none of the six boys would ever voluntarily chose to do this, each one had an amazing time besides learning how to prepare a wonderfully delicious dish. My boys are all different ages: 50, 21, 17,16, and 2 at 13! Out of all the activities we did, this one will be remembered forever….”
