A Perfect Ending to a Perfect Day (Wethersfield, CT)

Visiting Cozumel for the first time with great friends, my husband and I followed our hosts to some of the best restaurants and beaches I have ever experienced…but our host had saved the best for last! On our final night, following a perfect day at the beach, we arrived back home to Chef Emily preparing a fantastic meal! Starting with the fabulous guacamole, on to a lovely salad and the entree of braised short ribs, we enjoyed perfect food and perfect service in the open air on the balcony. Finishing with the fabulous mango and raspberry tart, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end a perfect vacation!

The Best (and Most Comfortable) Meal We Ate in Mexico (Shira & family – Chicago, IL)

We had the most wonderful experience with Emily, the Cozumel Chef. She came to our villa stocked with fresh ingredients and provided us with a delectable meal and dining experience. From the cocktail hour beverages to the chips and guacamole while we waited, to the beet salad with deliciously delicate goat cheese, to the perfectly cooked chicken with elotes-style corn custard, the meal was a hit! Even the kids gobbled it up! Also, the tart for dessert was divine and the locally inspired wine pairings worked great, too. Honestly it was the best (and most comfortable meal) we ate in Mexico period.

Emily and her staff were lovely to work with, reasonably priced and provided us with a stellar, extra-special meal during our vacation to Cozumel. I recommend her services without reservation. Sit back and let her prepare a meal or two to remember. She also grocery shopped for us in advance so that when we got there the fridge would be stocked. This was an immeasurably convenient service.

Perfect Combination of Exploring, Learning & Eating (Tamara – Dallas, TX)

Our family booked Cozumel Chef one afternoon/evening during Christmas week for a cooking class for “the girls” followed by a dinner for the entire family. Without Emily, we never would have visited the local market for fresh produce or learned how to fillet a fish. The exposure to the behind-the-scenes food shopping in Cozumel was fantastic. Ultimately, we had one of our best meals (if not the best meal) while on the island and ended up with some new skills and recipes as an added bonus. The entire experience from start to finish was definitely one of the highlights of our family vacation. It was the perfect combination of exploring part of Cozumel, learning new skills, and relaxing during a wonderful family meal.

Fantastic Birthday Meal (Lynda & Lourell – San Angelo, TX)

As we were planning for a recent visit to Cozumel, I noted that my husband would be celebrating his birthday while we were on the island and I wanted to plan something very special for the celebration. I contacted Emily Egge, who had recently arrived in Cozumel with impressive culinary experience, and asked her to plan an evening to remember.

Emily prepared a menu for my approval and that was the last thing I had to do!!!!!! She and her partner, Pawel, arrived at the appointed time at our condo with the preparations for a delightful full-course French meal with Cozumel “sassiness.” While Emily and Pawel busied themselves in the kitchen, our guests joined us on the balcony to sip their fantastic white sangria while enjoying the spectacular Cozumel sunset.

The meal was truly a memory. Emily and Pawel worked efficiently and unobtrusively, and yet we all thoroughly enjoyed their easy charm. No longer is chocolate cake my husband’s favorite birthday confection…..from now on it’s Mango & Black Raspberry Tart with crème Chantilly a la Emily!

Praise for the Cozumel Chef (Bill – Atlanta, GA)

I recently had the opportunity to dine here in Cozumel with a friend at his birthday celebration. My friend’s wife engaged Emily for the celebration dinner.

I have been in and out of the restaurant/bar business as a lawyer, but I had never enjoyed the “personal chef” experience. I would highly recommend it, especially if Emily is the personal chef. Her creativity was impressive, but even more impressive was the way she mixed textures and flavors in a classic but innovative manner. Who would have thought of an appetizer of sautéed red snapper on top of spinach in broth with chorizo, clams and saffron potatoes? Chorizo and red snapper? Trust me, it worked.

The entrée was a seared beef tenderloin with roasted garlic white bean puree, chayote frites, pickled radish and a classic brown sauce. Pickled radish with a great steak? Yes, it worked. The dessert was a fresh mango and raspberry tart – wonderful and fresh without being too rich. I wish I had the leftovers for breakfast the next morning, but it wasn’t my birthday. And the homemade sangria was a great starter. I applaud the effort and all that came with it. I will definitely stay in touch with Emily and hope to engage her for my next special occasion.
